Card no 386 - Martine
Oil painting by Jose Lorenzi
Country: France
Place: Corsica
Received: 5th February 2013
Distance: 942 miles
Travelled for: 4 days
From his childhood memories of the windswept Cap Corse,
the painter José Lorenzi remembered the intense blue as a symbol of the fierce
light of the Mediterranean summer. He started painting marine watercolours at
six years old and now his paintings can be found in collections throughout the
world.
In Bastia, in its José Lorenzi Gallery, there is a
permanent exhibition of paintings where he sometimes receives his friends and
loyal supporters.
In 2008 Liverpool was the European Capital of
Culture. In 2013 it is the turn of
Marseilles as shown on this stamp.
Beautiful art indeed.
ReplyDeleteThis card is amazing... It definitely goes to the brand new "Inspiration" part of my postcrossing blog with a link to your blog, Scriptor (if you don't mind ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm more than happy for you to use it. (And thanks for the Nesvizh Castle card which arrived this morning - another World Heritage Site for my collection).
