It's a little tricky to pin down an exact definition of a pin-up girl, but basically it's any actress or model whose mass produced images garner wide appeal. The pin-up itself is defined as a photograph or poster of a person considered to have glamorous qualities; a large photograph, as of a sexually attractive person,
suitable for pinning on a wall.

This stamp is one of a series of four, issued in September 2011,  depicting traditional head-dresses of Northern Russia.  this one is a girl’s headband, European Russia’s North, mid-19th Century.

This is the full set -

Man in a winter cap. European Russia’s North, end of XIX;
Girl’s headband. European Russia’s North, middle XIX;
Wimple. Pskov province, end of XIX;
Woman’s headdress. Archangelsk province, end of XIX-beginning of XX

Welcome. I love it when visitors comment - even if it's only to say "Hi, I've been here!"
