Clocks

I have decided to collect postcards and mail art of CLOCKS during 2015. They can be clocks in any form - I bet there is a clock postcard in your collection of cards to send. So any will be gratefully received and will be posted on a blog specifically devoted to clock cards - see here.

 Three  cards from my friend Katya and her mother Marina.

2210 - The Church of St Michael the Archangel, Uzhok vig., Ukraine.  This UNESCO WHS is a great addition to my collection.

2255 - Katya says they have a yellow post box like this on their post office.

Findus

2188 - It was Monica, my Swedish friend, who introduced me to Findus the cat and his owner Pettson. (Can cats have owners?  I think not!).

Since then I have had two more (2279 and 2293) from Susanne.

 

Aren't they delightful.

Some November Postcards

My scanner is not working properly.  As a result I can't show some of the cards I wanted to but I still have plenty to show you.

2179 - From Anastasia in Belarus, another Blue Cats card for my collection.  This one has the delightful title 'Apotheosis of Motherhood'.

2177 - A postcrossing card from Tatsiana in Belarus - another orange cat by Irina Zeniuk, the artist of the blue cats.

2158 - This card arrived by snail mail as a postcrossing card from Gite in Latvia.  Or perhaps we should describe it as tortoise mail.

2176 - This postcrossing card from Russia came from Anon. who commented it would make q good emblem for Postcrossing...

2184 - From Susanne in Germany (one of many she has sent me) came this super card of Trinity College Library, Dublin.

2188 - And one of many from my friend Monica in Sweden - It's from "When Findus was Little and Disappeared", a children's book illustrated by Sven Nordquist.  (Findus is the cat!)

2191 - From Dai Li in China I was fortunate enough to receive yet another Chinese UNESCO World Heritage Site.  She also sent me some trinkets from her holiday in Japan this year.  So kind.

An update from around the world

2144 – Eva sent me this card of Morella, an ancient walled city located on a hill-top in the province of Castellón, Valencian Community, Spain.  Morella is one of the places where there is rock art which forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin on the Iberian Peninsula’.

2145 – From Monica in Sweden came this Pippi Longstocking picture.  I now have a few Pippi pictures. 

2146 – Danielle in the USA sent this postcard of books.  It hardly matters what books are on a postcard it looks attractive and interesting.

2147 – Hetty sent this postcrossing card, a painting by Jan Toorop (1858-1908) of the connoisseur of prints Aegidius Timmerman.

2149 – Debbie in the Netherlands, another postcrosser, sent me an Inge Look card I haven’t had previously.  Hooray.

2151 – Another one from Monica in Sweden but the folk costume is actually from Valdres in Norway.  Isn't that a splendid picture.

2153 – From postcrosser Michael in Germany came this card of Cologne Cathedral.  The third largest church building in the world, Cologne Cathedral is a UNESCO WHS.

Some Recent Cards

It is so long since I blogged and I have received so many wonderful cards in the interim.  Hopefully, all the cards I have sent have been well received as well.   I don’t usually show the cards I send but I had to include this one.   

I found it in a second-hand book shop in Hay-on-Wye and it immediately brought back many memories and made me think of my brother, GB, in the Outer Hebrides.  We used to go regularly to the Ring o’ Bells in West Kirby where GB lived many moons ago.  And at one time most Thursday evenings we met up with a crowd of GB’s friends, with me bringing my girlfriend over from Liverpool or St Helens.  Happy days.

 2138 - From Susanne in Germany.  She always seems to find just the right card for me.

2141 - From Eva in Morocco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for my collection - the Historic City of Meknes.

2140 - And another from Eva - the Archaeological Site of Volubilis, another UNESCO site.  Thanks to Eva I now have four Moroccan UNESCO sites.

2143 - This was a birthday postcard from Katya, my long-standing friend in Ukraine, and her mother Marina.

2142 - And a great map of Ukraine from Katya.

2139 - This map of Ukraine came from Sasha who lives on the Crimean Peninsula and consequently it had Russian stamps.  

It is the first card I have received from there since the change of government and the Russian stamps were very noticeable.
